One week in Puglia

I mean, just google the place and see what pictures come up, to have an idea of what this Italian southern region looks like... And I bet you'll rush to Skyscanner to book a flight.

Puglia is the birthplace of many unique Italian foods: these include Burrata cheese, orecchiete pasta and tiella, the Italian version of Spanish paella, not to forget taralli. We of course tried them all during our stay!

There are so many hidden gems that await you on your stay in Puglia, a beautiful rural region full of its own unique character. Tare dozens of beautiful areas, but we had to narrow it down to two or three places, due to time constraints and our eagerness to basically relax on the beach, sunbathe and eat delicious food.

Apart from our comfortable deckchairs, here are the three places we spent our days in:

- Punta Prosciutto
- Ostuni
- Alberobello

Check out some of our pictures down here but we know that there is plenty to discover on our next trip!

Punta Prosciutto: It is one of the 19 most beautiful beaches in Italy, according to the Telegraph.

'For white sand, translucent water and informal beach-shack lunches, head for the seaside villages of Punta Prosciutto (“Ham Point”) or Torre Colimena. The scene is molto informale, with families from Lecce, Taranto or Bari coming down for the day and either draping their beach mats on the sand or renting a sunlounger under an ombrellone' (The Telegraph).

Ostuni: ‘The white city’

As described in the Lonely Planet guide: 'Chic Ostuni shines like a pearly white tiara, extending across three hills with the magnificent gem of a cathedral as its sparkling centrepiece. It's the end of the trulli region and the beginning of the hot, dry Salento. With some excellent restaurants, stylish bars and swish yet intimate places to stay, it's packed in summer'.

Alberobello : According to Trip Advisor:

'The Southern Italian region of Puglia is symbolised by its white-tipped, cone-shaped Trulli houses- and Alberobello, where more than a thousand UNESCO-listed trulli can be found, is the perfect place to discover them'.
