Masada and the Dead Sea

We walked up the hill and decided not take the cable car (which runs only at certain times and definitely after dawn).

Starting the hike when it is still pitch black (we left at 2 am from Jerusalem to be at the foot at the mountain at about 4 am) allows you to be at the top at 5 am and enjoy the sunrise, and the beautiful view from up the hill. This is definitely the recommended option, if you are fit enough to do the walk.
